A Spectacular Debut: Love & Other Great Expectations

 Oh my STINKIN ADORABLE I have now found a new ✨favorite author✨!!!!!! 

I. Want. Moreeee!!! How can this be all I have of Britt and Luke?? Like, totally cute and perfect ending, but can’t it be like a series or something?! 🥲 

Well, I’ll have to deal with it. I didn’t say deal with it calmly… 🙂‍↔️

Becky Dean is amazing. And this was her FIRST BOOK? Are you KIDDING?! *jaw dropped* 🤯‼️

This is the first I’ve read of her work, and it is VERY safe to say I’ll be binging the rest of her books. I hear it gets better, like for real?!🤭 

The characters were immediately lovable. 🫶 I was so intrigued. A scavenger hunt in the UK? Sign me upppp. But listen, it wasn’t unreasonable, unrealistic, or unrelatable. No, no, no. It was flawlessly executed, excitingly different with loops and turns where you least expect it, and worthy of a swoony adventure movie. If we’re talking logistics, Becky Dean has my respect for forming beautiful clues, mysteries, tactics, and side plots that made the whole story. I couldn’t find one thing not worth praising! 👏🏻🙌🏻

5 stars? YES. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book made: 1. Sleep optional, 2. Plans worth canceling, 3. TIME WORTH CONSUMING!! And much, much more. 

✍️The story was brilliant; all characters played a perfect part in an imperfect story—matters/themes like unknown futures, daunting situations, personal struggles, and wholesome relationships were dealt with gently and yet appropriately and encouragingly. 

🤩It was different, it was unique and that’s why it stood out in a crowd of “romance” junk! It gave me hope, anyway. The FMC wasn’t perfect, wasn’t drop-dead gorgeous, wasn’t quiet and didn’t have the perfect attitude. In fact, several sentences that came from her made me squeal in unexpected second-hand embarrassment that brought the book so much more humor! (Trust me on that, read it)👌🏻👌🏻 oh, and the MMC wasn’t some handsome jock who every girl loved. ‼️DISCLAIMER: I am NOT hating on tropes like these, I’m sure some are great too‼️ 

😍 But a “nerd who wasn’t really a nerd”? Who was handsome even with his glasses? It went against stereotypes and ROCKED!!! 

❤️📚🥰 And relationships were built on crazy, hilarious experiences. On truth, trust, and all with hints of dreamy attraction. As some reviews say, “swoons worthy of a Jane Austen novel”, and I couldn’t put it any better. 

As a Bible-believing, Jesus-loving Christian, I read this to try a new author (and was NOT disappointed), expecting it to be clean, but not Christian. I was pleasantly surprised!! You never would’ve guessed, I’m telling you. Unless you know your Bible. The references were sweet, subtle, and yet so heartwarming. My favorite quote: 

“Do you believe in other stuff like God? Miracles?”

“Yeah, I guess. Look at this.” I waved my hand at the hardy trees and the beautiful clouds and the tiny flowers growing in the rocks. “It would be hard not to.”

All that to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this and could not start her other books faster. I hope this review helps you to hurry up and get this book because after borrowing this from the library I WILL BE PURCHASING IT😍😍

😘No spice, steam, nothin. Couple kisses, not-semi described. Plenty of glances at lips. But mostly focused on character admiration and warm feelings.

Britt — LOVE HER!! So relatable, hilarious, inspiring, realistic. I loved reading about her and her quirks⚽️🥅

Luke — YES. YES. YES!!!! I will take him all day long. Full on knowledgeable with absolutely none of the arrogance. As a reader HIS LOVE OF BOOKS IS 👌🏻👏🏻🫶❤️‼️😍📚  and the fact that he reads to kids, elders, and Britt because she likes it? AHHHH!!!!!!!

Amberlyn — girl what’s ur problem? Well, I liked how at least it was in the clear by the end. Sassy, much?💅

Peter — you tick me off Pete, get out. 😒

Spence (🤨 iykyk) — ehhhh no. Just no. I mean yes, but no. 🙂‍↕️
